The goal of research in this NRT is to discover mechanisms that control the response of marine systems to climate change and human pressures and to identify policy solutions for such responses. Our research efforts include aspects of (1) coupled natural human systems, (2) risk and uncertainty quantification and communication, and (3) the science of big data. The NRT research programs also have strong communication and collaboration components. Students work in cross-disciplinary teams, on a user-inspired research problem (please see below). To connect science with policy and management, students communicate the forecasts of their research with appropriate perspectives on risk and uncertainty.

*The Conceptual Framework projects for 2019-2020 are posted here.
